What is collaboration all about?

The Cambridge dictionary defines collaboration as follows: the situation of two or more people working together to create or achieve the same thing (Cambridge University Press 2021)

To put it differently, collaboration is group work. Nonetheless, it needs to be learned. The outcome of a group project is very dependent on the ability of how well people can work together.

Let’s take a closer look at the definition. Essentially, there are three parts to this definition:

  • A group of two or more people (team)
  • Work together (processes)
  • In pursuit of common goals (purpose)

In other words, it is a genuine joint activity between students (solving a problem, completing a task, designing a product, etc.) by pooling their resources, knowledge, and skills.
